Marine wholesaler Hutchwilco continues expansion

Man wakeboarding and doing thumbs up

Auckland-headquartered wholesaler of quality marine equipment, Hutchwilco is expanding its portfolio with the onboarding of watersports brand O’Brien.

Hutchwilco takes over distribution of the world leading watersports brand O’Brien from current distributor Wake Action Sports, owned by Bruce Narbey, on 1 April 2025.

“We’re delighted to be adding this premium brand to our business. It adds huge value in completing the gap in our wholesale offering, continuing our longstanding reputation as the go to for marine retailers in New Zealand” says Tim Ritchie, Hutchwilco general manager.

Sales executive Will Geldard joins the Hutchwilco team under the leadership of sales manager Andrew George to aid this new product distribution line.

Geldard says: “I’ve got a huge respect for the water with a passion for all things in and around it, I enjoy boating, fishing, diving and all things watersports. My family’s connection with the marine industry for over 40 years has allowed me to gain a real appreciation for the people and businesses within it. I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into my new role, getting to know our dealers and customers to help them maximise their sales opportunities and driving growth across our products.”

Ritchie adds: “For Hutchwilco we’re about providing our retailers and boaties with the best quality and range of marine safety and water sport products to get the best out of their time on the water. The onboarding of Will and the O’Brien brand is just a fantastic addition to our water sport product range and crew, it really helps to complete it.”

Boaters can see the full range of O’Brien products at this year’s Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show with product available to retailers from 1 April.
