UK-based marine services company Briggs Marine has been appointed as a key subcontractor to Serco following the award of the Royal Navy’s Maritime Services contracts, continuing a partnership that has spanned more than 17 years.

Under the new subcontract, Briggs Marine will deliver Range Safety and Aircrew Training (RSACT) services across multiple UK locations.

The service, part of the wider Inshore Support to Military Training, Testing and Evaluation contract managed by Serco, will run from October 2025 for five years. Briggs will operate and manage a fleet of 15 vessels to support training and safety operations for the Royal Navy.

The company’s subcontract complements its recently awarded contract to provide moorings, aids to navigation, and target maintenance for the Ministry of Defence across the UK, Gibraltar, Cyprus and the South Atlantic. Combined, these contracts have brought Briggs Marine’s Defence sector order book close to £250m so far this year.

Iain Ross, director of port and marine at Briggs Marine, says: “We are delighted to receive this key subcontract, which represents the evolution of our long-standing collaboration with Serco and the Ministry of Defence. Our focus remains on delivering reliable and innovative marine solutions that support the Royal Navy’s mission-readiness.”

Guy Barker, Serco’s maritime services director, adds: “Our success depends on trusted partners like Briggs Marine. Their expertise and commitment to excellence are vital to the effective delivery of the DMS-NG contract and to ensuring the Royal Navy has dependable maritime support.”
