McConaghy reports that it has reached an agreement to acquire the brand and intellectual property of Cure Marine, an Australian builder of sailing catamarans.

The agreement follows earlier discussions on a production partnership and marks the integration of the Cure Marine brand into the McConaghy portfolio. Under the new structure, McConaghy will take over manufacturing of the Cure range, with production moving to its existing facilities. In a statement, McConaghy says that the transition will draw on the firm’s composite engineering and autoclave capabilities.

Cure Marine has concluded operations, with production of the range transferring to McConaghy. Ed Penn has been appointed sales manager for the Cure series. He joins McConaghy to oversee commercial activity for the range, having previously been involved in the brand’s development.

“We saw a unique opportunity to bring a successful Australian design into the McConaghy fold,” says Mark Evans, group managing director of McConaghy. “By combining Cure’s performance-driven IP with McConaghy’s global production scale and technical expertise, we are ensuring a bright and sustainable future for these exceptional catamarans.

“We are also delighted to welcome Ed Penn to the McConaghy team as sales manager for the Cure series, bringing over 30 years of industry experience and ensuring continuity and expertise for our clients.”

Production will take place at McConaghy’s international facilities. The company notes that the brand will retain links to its Australian origins through its connection to McConaghy’s Sydney headquarters and ongoing collaboration with the original design team.

McConaghy is developing updated versions of the Cure 55GT and Cure 48GT models, with further details expected later in April.

The company will present the Cure series at the International Multihull Show in La Grande Motte, from 22-26 April 2026, where representatives, including Ed Penn, will be available at stand S11.
